Scientific paper

A means of distinguishing between equivalent and different
(inequivalent) theories is presented. It is applied to distinguish
between the Brans-Dicke theory and general relativity. It is shown that
an infinite number of Brans-Dicke-type extensions can be constructed for
all field theories.
