Strong geomagnetic disturbances following isolated burst in the near zone in 1966-1974 are shown to have occurred under a favorable position of the magnetic axis NS of the corresponding bipolar group. With an unfavorable position of the NS axis, the earth entrance into the surge becomes impossible due to the flatness of the flux, so that only weak geomagnetic perturbations are observed.
