The paper presents a preliminary report on the nonlinear evolution of interchange E x B instabilities in the high-latitude ionosphere with scale-size-dependent magnetospheric coupling. Electric field mapping and linear theory associated with the interchange E x B instability in the high-latitude ionosphere is discussed. These equations are solved in the nonlinear regime using numerical simulation techniques and parameters typical of the high-latitude ionosphere.
