A consideration of I.G.Y. data and earlier data on the occurrence of sporadic-E in the temperate zones supports the authors' previous conclusion that the occurrence of sporadic-E is correlated principally with the horizontal component of the earth's magnetic field. The analysis also suggests that temperate zone sporadic-E tends to occur more frequently at high sunspot number and also occurs equally over land and sea; these suggestions disagree with the conclusions reached by other workers.
