We explore the possible effects of the accretion of low metallicity material, on white dwarfs in nova binary systems, on the progress of the outburst. We are motivated both by the observation that an unusually high fraction of the classical novae in the Large Magellanic Cloud (Z~0.005) are fast novae and a detailed study of LMC 1991 which shows it has Z=0.1Zsolar (or less). Our preliminary results indicate the importance, to both theoretical and observational studies of the nova outburst, of determining the mechanism by which the accreted hydrogen-rich envelope is enriched in white dwarf core matter. .
