Analytic models of dark filaments are constructed using geometries and physical quantities independent of the x-direction, but magnetic and flow vectors having an x-component. The filament has a sharp vertical dip, a small x-component of the magnetic field, and a high velocity coronal condition outside the filament. The filament was correctly simulated by this model on Aug. 7, 1975; the model is based on shock-like transitions between the chromospheric and coronal states with the flow traveling up and coming down to the chromosphere.
