Available measurements of velocity dispersion in elliptical galaxies are examined in relation to absolute magnitudes and effective radii. The aim of the study is to determine whether there are correlations between the M/L ratios and luminosities of colors. Data imply an increase of M/L with L in elliptical galaxies; however, the (M/L)-L correlation diagram constructed from the present sample does not allow a precise determination of the corresponding gradient. A significant correlation between the representative M/L ratios and U-V colors is found.
