The radioactivation methods proposed by Goldberg and Brown (1949, 1950) for determining Pd and Au in iron meteorites, have been combined, somewhat modified, and successfully applied to the determination of very small amounts of these elements in igneous rocks. The method appears much superior to the older analytical techniques based upon fire assay and should enable the geochemistry of these elements to be more effectively studied.
