The reflection from the ionosphere of ultralow-frequency signals from a pulsed ground-based source is analyzed. It is shown that the daytime ionosphere reflects effectively signals with frequencies above 0.03 Hz, while the nighttime ionosphere reflects signals with frequencies above 0.5 Hz. The response of the ionosphere to signals from a source of this type consists of the appearance of a reflected dipole that propagates vertically at a daytime velocity of approximately 40 km/sec and a nighttime velocity of approximately 800 km/sec.
