Data are reviewed in which a good correlation between geomagnetic activity and solar wind velocity is found, but where it is found that at the end of solar activity cycles there is an anomalous increase in geomagnetic activity, the anomaly being more pronounced for even-numbered cycles. In even-numbered cycles the shape of the anomaly changes every 21 years and the period of the changes is 84 years. These facts are discussed in terms of the simultaneously sporadic and recurrent nature of corpuscular streams.
