The U.S. Civilian Research and Development Foundation for the Independent States of the former Soviet Union (CRDF) is a unique public-private partnership to support cooperative, R&D-related projects between U.S. scientists and engineers and their counterparts in the former Soviet Union. The mission of the CRDF is to fund civilian projects conducted in the U.S and in the countries of the former Soviet Union (fSU). These projects should help sustain outstanding fSU scientific and engineering research capability, promote defense conversion and contribute to the development of market economies in the region.
