Data provided by the Cluster Ion Spectrometry (CIS) instruments are used to survey recent CLUSTER crossings of the dayside mid-altitude (4-6 Re) cusp regions, obtained near the noon sector in August-September 2001. Large-scale separating distances between the CLUSTER satellites (~0.4- ~1.7 Re) and south-north successive crossings allow investigation of the large-scale spatial and temporal cusp dynamics under a variety of interplanetary conditions. Step-like, "saw tooth", and multiple dispersed varying features are frequently observed in response to changes of the IMF orientation and/or solar wind pressure. Individual examples will be presented to demonstrate how complex is the cusp ion precipitation evidenced by the CLUSTER fleet. Moreover, properties of the ion fountain (mainly ionospheric O+ ions) easily observed at these altitudes will be given. When available, ground-based observations are used to search for related signatures.
