Scientific paper

We propose a Chandra ACIS-I observation of a large-scale X-ray-emitting complex, which contains several clusters/groups of galaxies and possibly substantial amounts of hot intercluster gas at z=0.25. This observation, together with a multiwavelength deep survey of the region, will be used to study the population of active galaxies (e.g., AGNs) and their interplay with environs. A very deep radio survey already shows a large number of radio-loud galaxies associated with the complex. The X-ray observation will allow us to determine the nature of such galaxies and likely to discover many radio-quiet active galaxies. We will also examine detailed physical properties of prominent X-ray-emitting features and determine the content of the hot intercluster medium in the complex.
