Second quantization of a scalar field is considered on the background gravitational field of a rotating relativistic star instead of a black hole. Just as the spontaneous particle creation by the Kerr black hole is analogous to the Klein paradox, this problem is analogous to the Schiff-Snyder-Weinberg problem, by which we mean quantization of field in the presence of a deep electrostatic potential well. A peculiar behavior of the energy curve of the bound state has been investigated in detail. If the rotating star is highly relativistic, we can expect a sort of phase transition of the vacuum into a polarized vacuum, where the particles with opposite angular momentum relative to the steller rotation reside in the inner region and those with parallel angular momentum reside in the outer region surrounding the former ones. A possible astrophysical effect is a braking of rotation through the interaction of the stellar material with the created particles in the inner region.
