It is established that intense radio auroras (RAs) at aspect angles
exceeding 3 deg are necessarily associated with large field-aligned
currents (FACs). The possible magnitude of FACs in RA regions is
evaluated, and it is concluded that RAs and FACs have a cause-effect
relationship.
