The vertical range components in the solar quiet terrestrial magnetic field are calculated for stations inside and outside the Indian equatorial electrojet region. The calculations, based on the three-dimensional ionospheric current model of Onwumechilli (1967), are compared with actual data obtained at the stations during a period of solar quiet. Vertical range anomalies which may originate in a channeling of induced currents around the tip of the Indian peninsula are noted.
