Research and data on noctilucent clouds (NC) are reviewed. Observations of NC correlated with lunar time are reported for time periods including June-July (time of NC maxima). A total of 1103 instances is examined. The probability of NC sightings is greater in the morning that in the evening. The effect of the amplitude of lunar tides (less than the amplitudes of inner gravity waves at heights around 85 km) are examined. NC sighting probabilities near lunar culminations as a result of enhanced water vapor condensation (due in turn to a drop in atmospheric temperature) are correlated with lunar-time variations in the rotational temperature of hydroxyl radical emission. The drop in temperature at heights near 90 km in the vicinity of lunar culminations during the summer period is examined, and its effects are considered. The lunar tidal waves are examined as long-period gravity waves.
