A mission status account is given for the Galileo mission to the Jovian system. Galileo is performing flawlessly, but its main communications antenna opened only partially when commanded to deploy in April, 1991; small positioning pins on the antenna ribs appear to have remained jammed in their receptacles. Attention is given to the results obtained to date with the Near-IR Mapping Spectrometer and the planned encounter with the S-asteroid, Ida.
