The recent detection of Optical Transients (OTs) related to GRBs arises question about their physical nature which seems to be not clearly understood. I review and discuss OTs from a more general point of view as a class including summary of previously and recently detected OTs from positions inside or close to GRBs error boxes and discussion whether or not they can be related to GRB phenomena. I show that, especially at faint magnitudes, the background of unrelated triggers such as variable stars and variable extragalactic objects may be rather high.
