We apply the method of Normalized Flux Averaging (NFA) to the analysis of 16-channel photon spectra of BATSE GRBs. The method allows us to find average parameters of Band's spectral function (low-energy spectral index α and νFν peak energy Ep) for selected time intervals where the normalized flux (the apparent flux divided by the peak flux) falls into a predefined range. We have found that while the average Ep correlates with flux, the average α exhibits a clear irreversible decrease after the main peaks of bursts. For the bright and dim groups of bursts the patterns of spectral evolution in α vs. Ep are similar. However, the dim bursts are significantly softer than the bright ones in terms of Ep.
