We describe the most recent results from the BaBar experiment, focusing on direct and indirect searches for new physics effects. We will discuss measurements of rates and CP-violating asymmetries in rare decays of B mesons, search for CP violation in τ-lepton decays, and direct searches for low-mass dark sector and Higgs boson candidates. These measurements are unique to the B-factories and are complementary in their new physics sensitivity to direct searches at the LHC.
