The stability of solar models against nonspherical thermal modes is investigated using the stability condition derived by Gabriel and Noels (1976). The standard solar models are found to be stable against a nonradial thermal mode even when a chemically inhomogeneous zone exists. This conclusion is consistent with the result of Rosenbluth and Bahcall (1973).
