Gases (N, Ne, Ar) are extracted from Au-coated sapphire and diamond-like
carbon collectors using an F2 excimer laser, without blank contributions
the substrate. N is purified using a low blank CuO/Cu cycle prior to
analysis by high resolution multicollector mass spectrometer.
