The long-range radio wave propagation is investigated experimentally in the case when the radiator is located in an ionospheric wave channel. It is shown that the probable directions of long-range signal reception can be determined 2rom the critical frequency gradients at the reception point. It is also shown that an optimum reception criterion which requires that the angle between the propagation path and the terminator plane be minimum, does not apply in the case examined.
