Resonance phenomena in the translational-rotational motion of a viscoelastic planet are investigated theoretically on the basis of equations of motion derived by Vil'ke (1984). It is shown that, in the presence of resonances, the evolution rate of the rotational motion of the planet can be sharply reduced; i.e., the planet will remain for a sufficiently long time in the state of resonance rotation. However, the orbital evolution continues to proceed, and the system ultimately leaves the resonance regime.
