Circumsolar-plasma occultation measurements were carried out at a wavelength of 2.93 m. The radial dependence of the radio-wave scattering angle indicates an anomalous increase in scattering in the range of 16-30 solar radii, which is associated with the solar wind transition region. Analysis of theoretical relations shows that, in the interplanetary medium close to the sun (R less than about 40 solar radii), the radial profiles of the scattering angle and the scintillation index coincide. The combination of different modifications of the occultation method significantly broadens the possibilities for studying the structure and geometry of the solar wind transition region.
