An analysis is made of the time lag of index variations of interplanetary scintillations from western regions in relation to eastern regions of the interplanetary plasma. It is shown that there exists an east-west asymmetry of the propagation front configuration of interplanetary disturbances propagating from the sun. Near earth orbit, this asymmetry amounts, on the average, to 30 deg.
