MAP/Globus 1983 was a large integrated campaign for the study of stratospheric trace gases and dynamics. It was performed in September 1983 in Western Europe. A few selected results out of the large amount of measured data are presented. They concern ozone in situ and remote sensing measurements, and their intercomparison. In situ measurements are found in reasonable agreement, whereas remote sensing measurements appear to yield systematically higher data than in situ techniques. Various NO2 measurements were also taken. They show large and unexplained data scatter. A dynamical analysis reveals the presence of a long period wave (tau = 10 days) that influences the distrubutions of many trace gases. A respective correction is developed for the NO2 data which considerably reduces their scatter. The remaining variations are compatible with diurnal NO2 changes as they are predicted by photochemical models.
