The present work describes some photospheric regions of the size of coarse network cells that remain free of photospheric magnetic flux for several days, even though completely surrounded by magnetic flux. They are clearly visible on magnetograms and appear as holes in the surrounding active region. It is suggested that these regions (magnetic pukas) are produced by supergranular convective cells with lifetimes much longer that the usual coarse network lifetime of 21 to 25 hours.
