Solar convection and the heating of the solar atmosphere are considered, taking into account solar convection scales, a theoretical picture of turbulent convection, the generation of wave turbulence by convection, the heating of the solar chromosphere and the corona by waves, and models of the corona and the chromosphere. The magnetic structure of the solar atmosphere is also examined, giving attention to sunspots, the chromospheric fibrils, solar spicules, solar prominences, and 'point' sources of linear, continuum, and X-ray emission. Chromospheric flares are also discussed along with solar radio bursts.
