THE radio source DA240 (refs 1 and 2) has been identified3 as a 15-mag elliptical galaxy of redshift z=0.0356, placing it at a distance of 215 Mpc (assuming an Einstein-de Sitter cosmology with c/H0=6,000 Mpc). The total angular extent of the source is approximately 34', which implies a linear extent of 2.1 Mpc and makes it one of the largest systems known.
