We discuss physical aspects of the Kerr and Kerr-Newman solutions
relating to the multipole structure, especially its nonlinear nature in
general relativity. It is argued that the Kerr and Kerr-Newman multipole
structure is likely to be important for general macroscopic as well as
microscopic systems.
