An interpretation of the close linear relation of solar scintillation
and seeing observation of extended objects is presented in terms of
atmospheric optics in the presence of turbulence. It is concluded that
this relation may be due to the increased filtering out of spatial high
frequencies observed with extended objects as height increases.
