calculated for NOZOMI which leads to a prolonged transfer phase until Mars orbit injection in Dec. 2003. This offers new scientific potentialties for MDC to detect interplanetary and interstellar dust particles, supplementary to its main purpose to measure predicted dust rings around Mars originated from Phobos and Deimos. MDC is continuously operational since July 1998 and has so far detected more than 80 particles. The results of the first two years of operation in the Earth-Mars interplanetary region are presented here.
