We apply a model for hierarchical galaxy formation to a cluster environment. An essential feature of the model is the presence of intense bursts of star formationn at early epochs, giving rise to strong supernova-powered winds. This model predicts that galactic halos should, in general, have a significant population of remnants, consistent with the halo microlensing observations in our Galaxy. In clusters, the model produces an intracluster medium which is massive, hot, and contains metals. We compare model results to observed cluster properties and trends, and discuss the role of galaxy morphology. We also discuss the cluster baryon fraction in our model, and its implications for the baryonic composition of the universe.
