The paper describes a method based on the Biot-Savard/Laplace law for
investigating ionospheric currents according to meridional-chain
magnetic data. The inverse ill-posed problem which results is solved by
the Tikhonov regularization method. The method is tested; its
reliability is evaluated; and it is verified on actual data.
