We propose a 100 kilosecond observation of the M~31 globular cluster G1. This cluster is an extremely strong candidate for containing an intermediate mass black hole -- it shows evidence for an increase gravitational potential towards its center from radial velocity measurements, as well as evidence for an accreting intermediate mass black hole in the form of X-ray and radio detections. Deep XMM observations will allow the first good X-ray spectrum of this object, and will allow us to make a crude power spectrum to determine whether it fits the predictions for the power spectrum from an intermediate mass black hole at its observed luminosity.
