Scientific paper

We propose a systematic study of large-scale molecular gas in high-z radio galaxies, based on results of a successful pilot-study that we did last year. High-z radio galaxies are among the most massive galaxies in the Universe and the new CABB backend allows - for the first time - to reliably study the low-density molecular gas in these systems in a systematic way. We propose to map CO(1-0) in an unbiased sample of high-z radio galaxies for which Spitzer and HST data are available, allowing us to study the physical relation between CO content and galaxy evolution/star-formation in the early Universe.
