The Hall effect in a magnetized disk is investigated. If the disk is used as a unipolar inductor, the initial magnetic field is shown to decrease; if the rotating disk carries a directional current, the magnetic field increases (in the simple analysis presented, the increase is infinite). It is shown that these effects, which can be demonstrated in the laboratory, may play an important role in the generation of the external magnetic field of pulsars.
