A review of the recent studies which have determined the primordial helium content of globular cluster stars is presented. The various techniques used to examine the problem are recapitulated and their strengths and weaknesses are recalled. These include the study of mass-temperature relationships for various parts of the HR diagram and the derivation of canonical helium content by the ratio R, the mass-luminosity parameter, and the difference in luminosity between the main sequency at (B-V)zero = 0.7 mag and the horizontal branch at the instability strip.
