The discovery of molecular hydrogen in the shell of the old nova DQ Her, the first detection of H2 associated with a classical nova, is reported. An IRCAM image of the shell of DQ Her in the wavelength of the S(1) line of molecular hydrogen shows extended emission which is not present in a similar image obtained in the adjacent continuum. The likely origin and excitation of the molecular hydrogen are briefly discussed.
