A technique for visualizing the large-scale of a galaxy is described which is based on the distribution of disk regions having systematic wave motions of neutral hydrogen. The distribution of regions observed in the M 81 galactic plane shows a large-scale structure which can be explained by a spiral model with variable pitch angle. The visualized large-scale kinematic structure agrees with the spiral structure of H II regions as well as with the H I density distribution.
