The relationship between global geomagnetic disturbances and variations of the primary indices of sunspot formation is analyzed. The existence of a close correlation between the importance of solar magnetic phenomena and the disturbance level of the geomagnetic field is shown. The time lag of aa indices with respect to variations of the duration of the existence of T sub 0 sunspot groups is probably associated with the poleward drift of the solar magnetic field as manifested in the poleward migration of high-latitude prominences, polar jets, and coronal-activity phenomena.
