The effects of the anisotropy and intensity of precipitating fluxes on variations in the lower ionosphere and VLF-wave propagation conditions are examined. The problem of predicting solar proton flares is discussed in connection with the diagnostics of VLF anomalies. VLF effects associated with the nonlinear interaction of high-power radio waves with the ionospheric plasma are evaluated, and the modeling of spatial and height-related variations of electron density in the lower ionosphere is considered.
