The distortions of images and colors visible during hypothetical travel at velocities approaching the speed of light are discussed. At these velocities stellar images appear to cluster directly in front of the spacecraft. The Doppler effect and the dilation of time produce significant wavelength shifts in starlight observed from the spacecraft. The fraction of the sky over which blueshifts are observed decreases as the velocity approaches that of light.
