Recent evidence has suggested the existence of a large number of red dwarfs, highly concentrated to the galactic plane, in the solar neighborhood. These results are reexamined using photoelectrically determined B-V and (R-I)W colors for a sample of stars near the North Galactic Pole. Preliminary analysis of the data indicates that the density of the reddest stars is not nearly as great as was previously reported.
