Irradiation or severe mechanical deformation can change the stability conditions of solid solutions. This is manifested through changes of the stratification temperature. In the present work, it is demonstrated that mechanoactivation, as well as irradiation, results in the occurrence of elastic tensile stresses and increased concentration of excessive vacancies. The excessive vacancies change the energy of interatomic interactions and the entropy of the system. These changes directly affect the stability of the solid solution. Conditions of solid solution stratification are obtained as functions of the concentration of excessive vacancies generated under irradiation or created by severe plastic deformation.
