Black Holes
Scientific paper
The back reaction on an evaporating black hole is investigated with the aid of a lower-dimensional model. Correction terms in the massless scalar-field quantum stress tensor due to mass and charge variations are given and their effects on the evolution of the hole discussed. Finally the behavior of the hole as its mass approaches the Planck regime is analyzed; one argues that the hole luminosity cannot become extremely large.
