The group and phase velocities and the wave characteristics of the Ps 6 disturbances, as they propagate eastward in the morning sector of the auroral oval, are evaluated, using the quadrature technique to separate these parameters. Both group and phase velocities of Ps 6 were found to be sunward (eastward) and independent of local time, as were the wave frequency and the wave number. The average values of the group velocity (about 1.0 km/s) is marginally greater than that for the phase velocity. The Ps 6 disturbances are discussed in terms of substorm magnetospheric dynamics and the convective flow velocities in the magnetotail.
