Scientific paper

An examination of the Mira variable HS Aquilae using recent Maria
Mitchell Observatory plates reveals that the period has become shorter
than the 267-day period given by Harwood in 1962. A constantly
decreasing period is favored over an abrupt change. The rate of change
is approximately -0.17 +_ 0.01 day per year.
